On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hockey Magician Major Dhyan Chand on August 29, 2025, National Sports Day will be organized by the District Youth, Service and Sports Office from August 29, 2025 to August 31, 2025 at various places.
Giving this information, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Shimla Rakesh Dhauta said that various sports like boxing, kabaddi, volleyball, race, tug of war and other local games will be organised in it.
He informed that on August 29, 2025, badminton, pithoo, rope jump, three leg race will be organized at Badminton Hall, Chaura Maidan, Shimla, hockey trials at Junga Ground, Junga Shimla, Kabaddi and Badminton at Government College Ground Nerwa (Chaupal) Shimla, Pithoo, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Tug of War at Government Senior Secondary School Duttnagar (Rampur) and Badminton, Volleyball and Kabaddi games will be organized at Indoor/Outdoor Stadium Rohru, Shimla.
On August 30, 2025, Volleyball, Badminton (for employees) will be organized at Municipal Corporation Ground Sanjauli, Shimla, Tug of War, Musical Chair, Relay 4×400, Matka Phod and Skipping Rope at Government College Ground Nerwa (Chaupal), Shimla, Boxing at Government Senior Secondary School Dutt Nagar (Rampur) and Pithu, Tug of War, Skipping, Musical Chair games will be organized at Indoor/Outdoor Stadium Rohru, Shimla.
On August 31, 2025, 5 km race from CTO to Ambedkar Chowk Chaura Maidan in Shimla, cross country 12 km at Government College Ground Nerwa (Chaupal) Shimla, marathon 5 km or cycling 10 km at Government Senior Secondary School Dutt Nagar (Rampur) and marathon 6 km at Indoor/Outdoor Stadium Rohru, Shimla will be organized.
He informed that this year’s theme will be “Har Gali, Har Maidan Khele Sara Hindustan” and the tagline will be “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein”, under which physical activity, inclusivity and teamwork will be promoted through fun and competitive sports and a culture of fitness will be inspired in educational institutions, organizations and local communities.
He has requested all the public (local schools and youth and elders of the concerned area) to participate enthusiastically in the National Sports Day being organized at various places.
