As part of the ongoing celebrations for Wildlife Week, a grand cycle rally was held today, October 4, 2025, to raise awareness of eco-friendly activities. “Ride for the Wild” was the name of this cycle rally campaign. The cycling enthusiasts “Cyclegiri” and Chhatbir Zoo collaborated on this campaign.
The riders arrived at the zoo at 6:40 am after the Cyclothon was flagged off at the Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana traffic light point at 6:00 am. They rode through the zoo as well. The chance to ride within the zoo really delighted and pleased the children. To promote animal protection, more than 200 cyclists from all across the tricity took part in the Cyclothon.

. To raise awareness among Tricity’s cyclists about the importance of wildlife conservation, Arun Kumar, the field director of Chhatbir Zoo, and his whole staff, which included Zoo Education Officer Harpal Singh, arranged a unique interactive session. The National Wildlife Week theme this year is “Human-Wildlife Coexistence.” This theme served as the foundation for today’s conversation. One of the group’s riders, Miss Nikita Rajput, adorned her bicycle in a distinctive manner to convey the message “Save Wildlife.” A quiz with a wildlife theme was arranged by Cyclegiri’s Dr. Naina Bansal and Mr. Akshit.
The guest was scheduled to hear an elephant talk from the zookeeper. During the zoo keepers’ presentation, Mahawat, an experienced elephant, and other knowledgeable zoo employees engage with the guests and share their own experiences. Additionally, they provide visitors with information about the creatures’ individual habits and behaviors. The Maya and Hema elephants were described by Mahawat, who has worked with elephants at Chhatbir Zoo for many years.
The zoo keeper’s speech piqued the interest of the visitors. More than 1700 people visited the zoo today. It was observed that even a sizable portion of visitors behaved sensibly toward wildlife. Team Chhatbir is prepared to serve even more guests during Wildlife Week and in the future, according to Arun Kumar, Field Director. All of the guest amenities are lovingly maintained, and our crew is always on the lookout for the safety of both visitors and the health of the animals.
