Mandi, February 24
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has called upon IIT Mandi to do new research using AI technology in the field of defense. He made this call while addressing the 16th Foundation Day celebrations of IIT Mandi today.
Rajnath Singh said that IIT Mandi is already working in the field of defense in collaboration with DRDO, but we have more expectations from IIT Mandi, because Yeh Dil Maange More. Rajnath Singh said that there is a need to do new work for the defense sector with AI technology, so that the defense sector can be strengthened further.
Rajnath Singh said that there was a time when 70 percent of defense related material had to be bought from outside, but today the time is that 70 percent of defense material is being prepared in the country itself. It is a matter of pride for us that now the material used for the defense of the country is being made by the hands of the people here.
He told that now the export of defense material has also been started from the country. In 2023-24, material worth 23 thousand crores was exported, while by 2029, a target has been set to increase this target to 50 thousand crores.
Rajnath Singh, while explaining the new definition of IIT, also told the students present to do another IIT after IIT. Rajnath Singh said that the IIT that will be there after studies will be an IIT with Initiate, Improve and Transform. Through which you will contribute to the development of the country. He said that today India has emerged as the 5th largest economy of the world. In the coming days, this India will emerge as the third largest economy of the country.
Rajnath Singh appealed to the students present to never do any work with a small mind. He said that former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to say that no one ever becomes great with a small mind and no one ever stands up with a broken mind. He said that believe in super power and keep moving forward. But some so-called anti-Sanatan people also lie about the super power. They want proof of it. But they do not know that there is breath that keeps a human being alive but it is not visible.
On this occasion, former CM and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, CM’s Principal Advisor Gokul Butel, BJP MLA from Drang Purna Chand Thakur, Balh MLA Indra Singh Gandhi, IIT BOG chief Colonel Dhillon and Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera along with other dignitaries were also present.
