A delegation from Newcastle University, United Kingdom, including Professor Richard Davies, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global and Sustainability, Dr Aditya Sharma, University Academic Lead for India, and Mrs Jo Geary, University Director for ASEAN Strategic Development and Engagement, visited Shoolini University.
The purpose of their visit was to foster a strategic partnership with Shoolini University, particularly focusing on collaborative research initiatives related to sustainability.
Impressed by Shoolini’s prestigious rankings and groundbreaking research, the delegation decided to pay a visit to the Shoolini campus to explore further opportunities for fruitful collaboration.
During the visit, Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla expressed his keen interest in establishing a Center of Yoga at Newcastle University, envisioning a hub for holistic well-being and research. Additionally, Professor Atul proposed avenues for faculty interaction, joint grants, and student/faculty exchange to further strengthen academic ties between the two institutions.
Various collaborative initiatives, including a potential Student Exchange Programme, a framework for Joint Graduation, Master’s, and Research Programmes, and the exploration of an International Faculty Exchange Programme. The delegation also presented the concept of establishing a Yoga Happiness Center at Newcastle University, reflecting the holistic approach to education and well-being.
Dr Rozy Dhanta Deputy Director International Affairs at Shoolini University said, both universities also explored joint funding opportunities with UK Research Innovation, Delhi, with an aim to enhance research capabilities and innovation. The concept of 2+2 programmes in collaboration with Management, Biotech, and Pharma departments was also presented as a means to enrich academic experiences for students.
Chancellor PK Khosla extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests from Newcastle University, and the meeting concluded with remarks from Vice Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla. The delegation expressed satisfaction with Shoolini University, praising its world-class labs, library, and the overall commitment to excellence.
