The Education Department has issued fresh directions regarding the dress code in government CBSE schools, clarifying that there will be no change in the existing dress code for teachers or the uniform for students for now.
As per the orders issued to all principals, the current dress and uniform system adopted by schools will continue unchanged during the 2026–27 academic session. Schools have been directed to maintain the existing arrangement until further instructions.
New Uniform Policy from 2027–28
The department has indicated that new dress and uniform norms may be implemented from the 2027–28 academic session. The proposed changes will be finalised after consultation with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or any other designated agency under the Technical Education Department.
Directions on School Building Colours
The department has also issued instructions regarding the colour scheme of school buildings. Institution heads have been permitted to carry out whitewashing or painting as per the existing colour scheme for the time being. A separate decision will be taken later regarding a uniform colour scheme for school buildings.
All principals have been instructed to continue with the current system until further guidelines are issued by the department.
