Shimla: Anupam Kashyap has clarified that there is no shortage of domestic LPG, petrol, or diesel in Shimla district and supplies of these essential commodities are continuing smoothly. He urged residents not to indulge in unnecessary hoarding.
The Deputy Commissioner made the statement while reviewing the supply situation through a video conference with all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of the district. Representatives of oil marketing companies also participated in the meeting.
He informed that, considering the present circumstances, oil marketing companies have taken certain precautionary measures regarding the supply of LPG. Commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants, and other establishments are currently being supplied on a priority basis to hospitals and educational institutions. Due to this, other commercial establishments may face temporary restrictions in supply.
The Deputy Commissioner advised such establishments to submit their demand for kerosene and coal to the office of the District Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department so that supplies can be arranged accordingly. He reiterated that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, petrol, or high-speed diesel in the district and adequate stock is available.
He appealed to the public not to panic or purchase and store LPG cylinders or petroleum products unnecessarily, as this could create artificial shortages and inconvenience for other consumers. As per the existing guidelines, domestic LPG cylinders can be booked only after a gap of 25 days, and consumers should follow the prescribed timeline.
Kashyap said the district administration is continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with oil marketing companies to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He also directed all SDMs to review the situation daily in their respective areas by holding meetings with petrol pump operators and gas agency officials.
They were also instructed to monitor the use of domestic LPG cylinders in hotels, restaurants, and other commercial establishments, check fuel stock levels and reserved quotas at petrol pumps, and assess kerosene requirements in their areas. He further directed officials to ensure that petrol and diesel are not supplied in cans to prevent unnecessary storage.
Among those present in the meeting were SDM Shimla Rural Manjeet Sharma, SDM Shimla Urban Oshin Sharma, District Controller of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Narendra Dhiman, FSO Anita Thakur, and other officials.
