A premium of Rs 48 will have to be paid for the crop of one kanal of land
Hamirpur 11 August. The benefit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which was started to compensate the loss of crops due to natural disasters like drought, flood, waterlogging and hailstorm etc., can also be availed during the current Kharif season. In Hamirpur district, maize and paddy crops are being insured under this scheme in the current Kharif season.
Deputy Director of Agriculture Department, Dr. Shashi Pal Atri said that the last date for insurance of these crops has now been extended to 14th August. He said that all the tehsils and sub-tehsils of Hamirpur district have been notified for maize crop. Whereas, three tehsils Hamirpur, Naidun and Bhoranj have been notified for insurance of paddy crop. The Deputy Director said that the notification related to this scheme is also available on the department’s website hpagriculture.com .
He informed that all the farmers including sharecroppers and tenant farmers growing maize and paddy crops in the notified tehsils and sub-tehsils can get insurance. Farmers can get their crops insured through the insurance company or nearest Lok Mitra Kendras, banks or online along with their photo identity card, Aadhar card and their land papers. Department officials can be contacted for any kind of consultation regarding the scheme.
All indebted farmers (who have taken loan from any bank or other financial institution) will be automatically insured by the financial institutions. If any indebted farmer does not want to avail the benefit of this scheme, then he can submit his declaration in this regard to the concerned bank branch.
The Deputy Director informed that Kshema General Insurance Limited has been notified for the current Kharif season in Hamirpur district. The premium for insurance of maize and paddy crops has been fixed at Rs 1200 per hectare i.e. Rs 48 per kanal. Its insured amount will be Rs 60 thousand per hectare.
