B.L. Modi Inter-School English Elocution Competition
Inter-School English Elocution Competition is the essence of expression through communication. This meet embraces the ability of articulation, which paves the way to excellence in various facets of life by enhancing vocabulary, spelling skills and body language awareness. Many instrumental figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill have influenced the masses through the power of speech, which makes it a quintessential acquisition for personal growth in our society.
The event was kicked off by the Director’s Address and consequently by the Headmaster ’s vivacious speech with which the audience rose with a zealous cheer. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ms Kiran Bhadana, an accomplished IAS officer from the 2017 batch who serves as the Director of ESOSMA which aims to empower the SC , OBC , Minority and specially-abled , a role that underscores her dedication and commitment to public services. Chapslee School ,Auckland House School for boys ,Aucklands Convent of Jesus and Mary, DAV School ,Lakkar Bazaar, Loreto Convent Tara Hall ,Sacred Heart Convent ,Shimla Public School ,Bishop Cotton School contested in this hearty literary congregation.
Our young participants sparked this fest by achieving prowess over literary pieces written by renowned poets, dramatists and authors such as Maya Angelou, William Shakespeare, Roald Dahl and Sylvia Plath who continue to influence our lives through their unconditional love for oration and social awareness which testifies to the importance of courage, self-improvement and perseverance during troubling
situations. All the speakers showcased their eloquence and confidence during their performances, which made it difficult for our discerning judges to choose the victor.
Suspense glided over the competitors’ faces as anxiety creeped through the Irwin Hall whilst the winners were yet to be announced. When apprehension gave way to ambiguity, Mr Mathew John (Headmaster of Bishop Cotton School, Shimla) announced the results to call an end to equivocation.
