District Tuberculosis Eradication Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap said that nutrition kits have been distributed to all TB patients in the district under the Nikshay Mitra collaboration. The nutrition kits contain high-protein foods that help TB patients recover quickly.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Tuberculosis Eradication Committee held here today in which issues like TB Free India Campaign, Hand Held X-Ray, Nikshay Mitra Cooperation etc. were discussed in detail.
Shimla is the leading district in introducing TB preventive treatment.
The meeting was informed that the target was to initiate TB preventive treatment (TPT) in 1,358 cases by 2025, of which 968 cases were initiated, representing 71 percent and the highest in the state. Under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, a target of 2,230 cases was set from January to December 2025, and 1,972 of these cases were achieved, representing 88 percent. The HIV testing target was 1,463, of which 1,456 were achieved, diabetes testing was 1,454, of which UDST status was 920, and the treatment success rate target was 1,517, of which 1,663 were achieved. Under the TB- Free India 2.0 campaign, the target was to perform X-rays on 1,61,777 people by March 14, 2026, of which 63,910 people received X-rays, representing 40 percent. Handheld portable X-ray machines have been made available in Rampur and Matiyana.
World TB Day will be celebrated on March 24
The meeting was informed that 141 Panchayats in the district have been declared TB-free Gram Panchayats, of which 23 have been placed in the Gold category, 34 in the Silver category, and 84 in the Bronze category. World TB Day will be celebrated at the Gaiety Theatre on March 24, 2026, and Panchayat Secretaries of Gold-class Panchayats will be honored at this district-level event. Additionally, Gram Panchayats in the Silver and Bronze categories will be honored at the block level.
Everyone should cooperate in making the district completely TB free.
Anupam Kashyap said that people suffer from many diseases but hesitate to go to the hospital. People rarely cooperate with people suffering from tuberculosis or drug addiction, so raising awareness about the importance of community participation is our priority. Healthy community support will develop if we have healthy people around us.
A meeting of all stakeholders will be held in the future to make the district TB- free . This meeting will include all relevant departments and social stakeholders. After this, preparations will be made to implement a comprehensive plan to make the district TB- free .
