An important meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap regarding Operation Abhyas, in which he gave instructions to ensure the availability of all necessary services regarding civil defense in a war-like situation.
Regarding civil defense, it was told that all the pradhans and councilors will be wardens for a war-like situation. Apart from this, about 60 volunteers of civil defense will participate in this exercise, who will make people aware.
It is noteworthy that a mock drill will be organized at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and Sanjauli parking lot today at 4 pm. The siren will sound at 4 pm and the mock drill will begin for 10 minutes, and then the siren will sound again, after which the mock drill will end. This is only an exercise to give information about the necessary steps to be taken during a war-like situation, so everyone should maintain patience and cooperate with the administration.
Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma and officers of all various departments were present in the meeting.
There will be a blackout in the entire city from 7:20 to 7:30.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there will be a blackout in the entire Shimla city from 7:20 to 7:30 pm today and all the lights will be switched off during this time. He urged the people to stay in their homes during this time and stop the vehicles running on the road on one side and switch off the lights. He has appealed to the people to cooperate with the district administration in this exercise.
Ensure availability of essential services in the district.
In the meeting, instructions were given to the concerned officials to ensure all the important services for the coming days. During this, it was told that all the essential items are available in adequate quantity in the district.
The Food and Civil Supplies Department has 1 month’s ration, an adequate quantity of petrol and diesel and gas cylinders available in the district. The deputy commissioner also directed the department to monitor rations and other items every day and keep a stock of one month. He said that it should be ensured that there is no black marketing and hoarding anywhere.
The deputy commissioner directed the health officials to keep proper stock of medicines and form a core team for disaster situations. Apart from this, he directed them to check the paramedical staff, technical staff, operating theater staff, and blood bank storage. Similarly, he directed the Transport Department to keep the traffic smooth in such a situation. He said that everyone should keep buses ready for disaster situations.
Anupam Kashyap directed the Public Works Department to prepare a list of such buildings in the district where people can be kept during a disaster. Apart from this, he also directed the department to ensure the availability of laborers and machinery. He also directed the department to keep all defense roads in working condition. Similarly, he directed the Jal Shakti Department to check the safety of water sources and tanks and to keep all fire hydrants in working condition. Apart from this, he directed the Electricity Department to prepare backup options. He directed all the officers to identify sensitive areas and be prepared for every emergency situation.
The deputy commissioner appealed to all the officers to work with more vigilance in the coming days. He said that in the coming days, all the officers should work with better communication among themselves and ensure to pick up every phone call because an emergency situation can occur at any time. He said that this is a matter of national interest, so all the officers should play an active role.
