In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, a blackout was done in Palampur on the night of May 8, but the solar lights continued to burn as usual. People also raised questions on social media regarding this, so now on Friday, the Civil Administration Palampur has issued guidelines to the Municipal Corporation Palampur and Block Development Officers Palampur, Bhavarna, Panchrukhi and Saloha to take necessary steps to shut down the solar lights to ensure total blackout.
After the orders of the administration, the process of disconnecting the solar lights installed in the periphery of Municipal Corporation Palampur has been started. The Palampur administration has asked the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and the concerned Block Development Officers to either cover the solar lights or temporarily cut their connection. According to the information, about 2200 solar lights are currently installed in the periphery of the Municipal Corporation and about 1500 of these solar lights are currently functional. In such a situation, it may take time to disconnect such numerous solar lights.
SDM Palampur Netra Meti said that a written letter has been issued to the Municipal Corporation and the concerned Block Development Officers in this regard. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Ashish Sharma said that the process of disconnecting solar lights has been started.
