The quarterly general meeting of the District Council Shimla was organized today in the auditorium of the District Council building Chalonthi. The meeting was presided over by District Council President Chandra Prabha Negi. Before the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent disaster in the state.
In the meeting, member Anil Kalta demanded adequate financial provision to compensate for the loss caused by the disaster. On this, Executive Member Secretary and Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma said that the loss caused by the disaster is being compensated as per the rules, under which there is a provision of giving Rs 75 thousand per kilometer for rural roads and Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand for national highway roads. He requested the members to complete the necessary formalities and send the proposal to the administration soon.
Zila Parishad member Subhash Kainthala proposed to open a pollution testing centre in Narkanda or Kumarsain, on which the Himfed official informed that interested candidates can apply on the MORTH portal, for which permission is granted within a week. Member Trilok Bhaluni recommended sending a proposal to the Prime Minister’s Office to declare a national disaster in Himachal in view of the heavy losses caused by the natural disaster. Member Kaushal Mungta proposed to build a lounge for members in the Zila Parishad building, on which it was decided in the meeting that the lounge would be constructed after the construction of the roof of the building is complete.
In this meeting, 10 new proposals related to various sectors were also approved. All the members raised the problems and requirements of their areas in the House and demanded quick and effective action from the officials.
