The Himachal government has launched a campaign at the panchayat level to prevent water-borne diseases. Pamphlets are being distributed in homes to make people aware of the disease.
There is a possibility of getting waterborne diseases by consuming contaminated water. If treatment is not done on time, there is a possibility of gastroenteritis, jaundice, typhoid and can be dangerous.
Advisory has been issued regarding water borne diseases increasing continuously in the state. People have been advised to clean the surroundings and drink boiled water. The Health Department has alerted the Principal of the Medical College, Senior Medical Superintendent, Chief Medical Officer regarding the diseases.
Patients coming for treatment in OPD have been asked to get tested. The hospital administration has been instructed to provide medicines in sufficient quantity. Due to the torrential rains in the state, dirty water is being supplied to people’s homes. Due to this the figures of waterborne diseases are increasing.
How to Protect Yourself
Use clean water, boil the water for 15 minutes.
If there is a possibility of contaminated water, drink water mixed with chlorine.
Add a chlorine tablet to a bucket of water
Regularly clean the tanks in the house
Eat fresh food
Wash vegetables and fruits with clean water
