Paper leaks are now considered crimes in Himachal that are not subject to bail. Regarding this, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has introduced a new law in the House, which the Assembly will approve tomorrow. This is the first time that a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh and a prison sentence of up to five years may be imposed for a crime like paper leaks.
A punishment of up to one crore would be assessed, and the service provider will be placed on a four-year blacklist if proved guilty of this. A maximum sentence of five years in jail is stipulated for organized crime. A monetary fine of Rs 1 crore may also be imposed in addition to this. Such cases will not be investigated by any officer below the rank of DSP. This law stipulates that it shall have jurisdiction over hiring decisions made by the State Selection Commission and the Public Service Commission.
This type of crime includes possession of the answer sheet, sharing it with others, tampering with answer sheets, and leaking question papers or answer sheets. Confidential information leaks have also been classified as crimes. In addition, the assembly was presented with two more pieces of legislation. Education Minister Rohit Thakur introduced the Registration Bill, which would allow for online revenue services, before the House when Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi was away. A measure to amend the road taxation of some goods carriers has also been submitted by the chief minister.
It is now impossible for anybody to obstruct the state’s donation of land for public use. No one will be allowed to claim land that has been utilized for more than ten years without a gift deed or agreement and has fallen under the jurisdiction of a public utility. In accordance with land acquisition, compensation cannot be claimed in place of this. If someone does this, they might be imprisoned for six months and fined Rs 10,000.
