The hospital engaged staff, patients, and the community to promote safe care for every newborn and child
Panchkula, 26th September 2025: Paras Health Panchkula successfully observed World Patient Safety Day 2025, a global campaign dedicated to ensuring safe care for every newborn and child. Under the theme “Safe care for every newborn and every child” and the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”, the hospital emphasized the importance of early and consistent action to prevent harm and promote long-term health outcomes for children.
This year’s theme aligns with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) official focus for World Patient Safety Day 2025, which calls on stakeholders worldwide to “act now for safe and respectful childbirth and safe care for every newborn and child” [WHO, 2025].
As part of the initiative, Paras Health Panchkula organized a series of engaging activities for hospital staff, patients, and the community from September 15 to 19, 2025. The week began with staff awareness quizzes and patient engagement rounds to enhance staff awareness and engagement, followed by educational skits on patient safety and health talks by the hospital dietician for patients and visitors.
Dr. Shweta Prabhakar, Medical Superintendent, Paras Health Panchkula, said, “Children represent our future, and their safety is our foremost priority. Through these initiatives, we empowered caregivers, educated children, and reminded our healthcare teams that safe care from the very beginning of life can transform health outcomes across the lifespan.”
The hospital team of doctors and nurses also visited local schools, where children participated in Basic Life Support demonstrations and other interactive activities, reinforcing the importance of safety from an early age. As part of the week’s observance, the hospital was illuminated in orange, symbolizing global solidarity and commitment to patient safety. Mock Code Pink drills and medical equipment safety awareness rounds further reinforced safe care practices.
Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Facility Director, added, “Paras Health Panchkula translated WHO’s global goals into meaningful local action. By taking the lead in World Patient Safety Day 2025, the hospital demonstrated that leadership in patient safety requires commitment, collaboration, and innovation. Every newborn and child deserves safe, high-quality care, and this requires collective effort from parents, schools, and healthcare teams.”
The week concluded on today, with a final ceremony bringing together hospital leaders, caregivers, and staff to reflect on the week’s achievements and reaffirm Paras Health Panchkula’s commitment to patient safety.
Paras Health Panchkula’s initiative highlighted its leadership in patient safety, echoing WHO’s call for collective action to prevent avoidable harm in pediatric and newborn care, and advancing the global goal of ensuring safe, healthy childhoods for all.
