A case of misconduct, assault, and attempted bribery has been reported involving a Patwari (land records officer) in the Sillaghat Patwar Circle of Chamba district. Based on the Patwari’s complaint, the police have registered a case and started an investigation.
According to Patwari Mukesh Kumar, on January 2, the accused came to his office and pressured him to prepare a false report in a case. When Mukesh Kumar firmly refused to do any illegal work, the accused attempted to bribe him by forcibly placing cash on the table.
Despite repeated refusals, the accused lost his temper, dragged the Patwari out of his government chair, and assaulted him. When the office watchman intervened after hearing the commotion, the accused also threatened to kill him. The Patwari’s clothes were torn during the scuffle, and the incident caused chaos in the office for some time.
Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani confirmed the incident and stated that a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
