Shimla, July 28:
On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (HoFF) Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sameer Rastogi, led a special plantation drive at Nature Park, Kanlog, Shimla. He planted a sapling of Ginkgo biloba, a rare and ecologically significant plant species, symbolizing the department’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration.

The Nature Park, developed by the Forest Department, Himachal Pradesh, is a shining example of ecological rehabilitation — having been constructed on a former dumping site. The transformation into a thriving green space underscores the department’s efforts in reclaiming degraded lands and promoting environmental awareness among the public.

The event was graced by senior forest officers including Shri Sanjay Sood, PrCCF (FCA), Shri Lalnun Sanga, APCCF, and other dignitaries and officials of the Forest Department. Their presence emphasized the collective dedication of the department towards environmental protection and sustainable forestry practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sameer Rastogi highlighted the importance of community involvement and sustainable development to ensure the protection of natural resources for future generations. He commended the department’s initiatives in afforestation, wildlife conservation, and public outreach, especially in urban and semi-urban areas.
The plantation drive also serves to encourage citizens to take active steps in conserving the environment and supports the broader goals of climate resilience and ecological balance.
