Hamirpur, January 31:
Senior state BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana on Saturday asserted that the people of the Sujanpur Assembly constituency are like his family and any harassment or neglect of their interests will not be tolerated.
Addressing residents of Upper Daroghan village in the Tony Devi area, Rana expressed concern over the ongoing issues caused by the construction of National Highway-03. Villagers have been demanding the restoration of roads and link roads allegedly closed by the construction company during highway expansion work.
Rana said that for the past five years, thousands of residents in Sujanpur, Bhoranj, and Dharampur areas have been facing hardships due to the highway construction. He added that during his tenure as MLA, he had raised the matter prominently in the Assembly and has since held regular meetings with officials of the construction company, NHAI authorities, and the local administration to minimize public inconvenience.
Issuing a stern warning to the company, Rana demanded immediate restoration of blocked roads and link roads, removal of soil dumped on private land and crop fields, and resolution of all pending grievances. He also stated that he would take up the matter with the PWD Minister, NHAI officials, and authorities in Delhi to ensure swift action.
During the visit, Rana spoke to the company’s supervisor over the phone and directed him to address the villagers’ concerns without delay. The supervisor reportedly assured residents that their issues would be resolved soon.
Rana also urged police personnel posted at the Tony Devi police post to fairly hear the grievances of villagers and safeguard their interests, amid allegations by locals that some police staff had intimidated them.
