To raise the awareness of the need for strong and resilient health systems and universal health coverage with multi-stakeholder partners,PHC- Rampur, Sub centre Thakur-Thana Block Karsog Dist. Mandi Urban PHC- Annadale has been awarded for best performing in Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of International Universal Health Coverage Day (UHC Day).
International Universal Health Coverage (UHC)Day is celebrated on 12th December, 2020 by the Government of India under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Health Minister of India, Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
Dr. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary to the Department of Health, Government of India were present on this occasion.
Due to the prevailing pandemic conditions, this year the UHC
day programme was conducted virtually and was attended by the Secretaries Health, Mission Directors-NHM of all the states and Union territories of the country.
A virtual felicitation of the best performing individuals, teams and facilities under the Ayushman Bharat Programme from all the states was done by appreciating their hard work and giving them a certificate of appreciation by the Government of India.
Ayushman Bharat Programme was started in 2018, by the Hon’ble Prime Minister under which 1.5 Lakh PHCs and HSCs were to be transformed into Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) for providing the comprehensive health care facilities to the underprivileged population of the country.
From the state of Himachal Pradesh, PHC- Rampur, Dist. Shimla under Dr. Bharti Azad and HSC- Thakur-Thana, Block Karsog, Dist. Mandi under Community Health Officer, Ms. Bandana Thakur were adjudged as the best performing PHC and HSC Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres of the state. UPHC- Annadale under
Dr. Madhu Maitan was adjudged as the best performing UPHC-Health and Wellness Centre of the state. Dr. A.K. Antal from PHC-Diggal, Dist. Solan was adjudged as thebest performing Medical Officer, Ms. Bandana Thakur from HSC- Thakur-Thana, Block Karsog, Dist. Mandi was adjudged as the best performing Community Health officer.
This performance was adjudged on the basis of various parameters like
footfall, tele-consultations, screening for non communicable diseases etc. The
respective teams of the best performing facilities were also felicitated with a
certificate of appreciation.
The State of Himachal Pradesh has a target of making 2046 HWCs till 2022,
of which more than 1900 have already been notified and are working as HWCs in the State. The State has also jumped substantially from 21st rank in 2019 to 9th rank for the last quarter’s rankings in the country in the Health and Wellness centre programme and currently 420 Community Health Officers (Trainees) are undergoing training in the seven IGNOU certified Programme Study Centres across the State.
The State has also integrated the Community Course in Health with the final year of curriculum in BSc and Post Basic BSc nursing courses in various public and private institutions across the State and after the current batch passes out in Jan 2021, the State shall have a pool of more than 1000 candidates trained in Community Course
in Health for posting as Community Health Officers in various Health and Wellness Centres.
To address the affordability component of the Universal Health Coverage,
the State has launched innovative schemes like HIMCARE, Mukhya Mantri Chikitsa Sahayata Kosh and Sahara in the past few years.
