Shimla : 01 September- Sports are an integral part of our life which ensures our physical and mental development. Principal Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan said this while speaking on the occasion of inaugurating the Kabaddi mat at Government Senior Secondary School, Sanjauli. It is noteworthy that this Kabaddi mat at a cost of Rs 2-50 lakh has been gifted to this school by Rotary Club Shimla so that the players can get good facilities in playing Kabaddi.
He said that children should be encouraged towards sports and exercise right from their student days so that they stay away from drugs and mobile addiction. Expressing concern, he said that in the race to become progressive and modern, we are playing with our health. Mobile all the time for today’s kids Being busy with laptop and video games is having adverse effects on their health.
Naresh Chauhan called upon the students to actively participate in sports along with studies. He urged teachers and parents to encourage children towards sports because sports not only entertain them but also improve their health.
He said that the state government is fully committed to providing all kinds of basic facilities related to sports to the players and schools. He said that the recent important decision of the Chief Minister to open Rajiv Gandhi Boarding School in the government sector will provide the best facilities to the students studying in government schools.
Chouhan said that today the standard of education in government schools is better than in private schools. Giving importance to education, the state government is providing all kinds of facilities from primary level to college level. Giving the example of the current Chief Minister of the state, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, he said that our Chief Minister himself has studied in a government school and has reached this position today.
He expressed his gratitude to Rotary Club Shimla for providing Kabaddi mat for the school and announced to donate an amount of Rs 1 lakh for the development works of the school.
Principal of the school, Mrs. Neena Mehta welcomed the chief guest and gave details of the educational and other activities of the school.
On this occasion, Baimloi Ward Councilor Sheenam Kumari Kataria , Rotary Club Shimla President Yogesh Arya , Former President SN Kapoor , Senior Member Dhyan Chand and other dignitaries were also present.
