Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today participated in the National Resolution Day program organized at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla and remembered former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by paying floral tributes at her statue. During this, the Chief Minister also administered the oath to everyone on National Pledge Day. It is noteworthy that National Resolution Day is celebrated on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He said that today is the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi, who sacrificed her life for the unity and integrity of the country. He said that Indira Gandhi was filled with the spirit of patriotism and she became the first Prime Minister of the country who raised her voice against terrorism and faced this challenge strongly.
The Chief Minister also remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. He said that we should remember the works of Sardar Patel. Sardar Patel is known as Iron Man and the decisions he took were implemented. He said that when the issue of uniting the small and big princely states of India came up, Sardar Patel played a big role in it.
During this, artists of the Information and Public Relations Department presented patriotic and bhajan songs.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali.
On this occasion, Congress State President and former MP Pratibha Singh, MLA Shimla Urban Harish Janartha, Mayor Municipal Corporation Shimla Surendra Chauhan, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, Principal Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, councilors, Congress party workers, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap, Superintendent of Police. Sanjeev KumarGandhi and other dignitaries also paid floral tributes to the statue of Indira Gandhi.
