Belletristic, the literary society of the Department of English, Shoolini University, organised another Friday literary session. This time it was a symposium on poetry in which the participants were faculty and students of the Languages department.
Faculty members Manju Jaidka, Tejnath Dhar, Prakash, Sourabh Kulsheshtra, Sandeep Singh, Samrat Sharma, Navreet Sahi, Hemant Kumar, Rajesh Williams, and Sakshi, along with students, Ruchi, Poulami, Krishan Kant, Sonika, Vaishali, Kaustubhi, Rsvika, Hasan, Liyaqat, Vedanshi, Jagmeet and Malvika participated.
The session was moderated by Dr Purnima Bali of the English department. HoD, Dr. Manju Jaidka, began the session with a very beautiful poem by Faiz, “kuchh kaam kiya, kuchh ishk kiya….” Then, all other participants, professors and students, recited various poems by their favourite authors and some their own self-composed poems.
The language created no hindrance in the session, as the poems were in English, Hindi, Urdu, and, Punjabi. The session was very engaging with so many poems of different genres and moods. The themes ranged from the romantic to the emotional, some satirical and some on social issues. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident in every recitation.
