Bilaspur: In a shocking incident, a police constable and a Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board employee were arrested with chitta (heroin) in Bilaspur. The action was taken by the Sadar Police team during a naka (checkpoint) at Sungla.
During the checking, the police stopped a car bearing registration number HP-EE 3132. On searching the occupants, the police recovered 2.85 grams of chitta along with ₹17,500 in cash.
The accused have been identified as Vishal and Surender, residents of Bagi-Binola village in Sadar tehsil of Bilaspur district. According to police investigation, accused Vishal is working as a driver in the Vigilance Department and had earlier also been arrested in a chitta-related case. The second accused, Surender, is an employee of the Electricity Board.
ASP Bilaspur Shiv Chaudhary confirmed that the police team has arrested two persons with 2.85 grams of chitta, including one police personnel and one Electricity Board employee. Further investigation is underway. He added that the police campaign against drug abuse and trafficking will continue in the future as well.
