Shimla: BJP State President and former Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, said that Himachal Pradesh is currently facing unprecedented and extremely challenging circumstances. He alleged that the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has become completely directionless, ineffective, and trapped in internal conflicts. According to him, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and ministers are constantly engaged in blaming and counter-blaming each other, while every part of the government appears focused only on venting frustrations.
Dr. Bindal stated that the situation has worsened to the point where the state Secretariat—meant to function as the center of decision-making for public welfare—has now turned into a war zone. He said one minister is publicly criticizing another, ministers are holding administrative officers responsible, and officers are left confused about whether to perform their duties or face political pressure. He claimed that the government is at odds with the administration, and the administration feels helpless and demoralized.
He further said that the biggest sufferers in this internal power struggle are the people of Himachal Pradesh. The public, he alleged, is distressed and insecure, while the government’s leaders remain absorbed in their political battles. Dr. Bindal added that in the last 70 years, Himachal has never witnessed such chaos, where ministers and Congress leaders have allegedly become completely unchecked and are only focused on their personal agendas.
Dr. Bindal claimed that whenever the government comes under pressure due to its failures, ministers shift the blame onto each other, and when that does not work, they start blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Central Government—calling it Congress’ old and failed political strategy.
He asserted that the level of disorder has now reached its peak. According to him, law and order in the state has collapsed, police officials and administrative officers are demoralized, and people no longer feel safe. He said this has led to a rapid rise in drug abuse and ‘chitta’ (synthetic drugs), development works coming to a standstill, and institutions becoming uncontrolled.
Dr. Bindal concluded by stating that whenever citizens raise questions, Congress leaders do not provide solutions—instead, they engage in internal fights. He claimed the government has lost its moral and administrative authority to govern. He added that the BJP will raise the voice of the people and will fight against this disorder, chaos, and failure from the streets to the State Assembly.
