Today, DC Shimla Aditya Negi took a meeting of officials regarding the preparations for the President’s visit. In this, the DC instructed the concerned departments to complete all the preparations on time.
He asked the Public Works Department (PWD) to upgrade the city roads and Highway-5 from Shimla to Chharabra, make arrangements for cleanliness in the city, and make strict security arrangements with the police. Every year the President visits Shimla during summer. Former President Ramnath Kovind was staying at the Cecil Hotel, but will stay at the Murmu Retreat.
President Draupadi Murmu will announce the opening of the heritage building The Retreat to the general public on April 20. With the opening of the 173-year-old Rashtrapati Niwas to the general public, tourism will get wings. After this, tourists coming from India and abroad will be able to visit The Retreat with the prescribed entry fee. The DC instructed the officials to prepare an action plan in this direction before opening the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
