Additional Deputy Commissioner Solan Ajay Kumar Yadav said that the main objective of organizing International Girl Child Day is to ensure protection of the rights of the girl child and to further empower the girls by identifying the challenges faced by the girl child. Ajay Yadav was addressing a program organized by the Women and Child Development Department on the occasion of International Girl Child Day here today.
Ajay Yadav said that for girl empowerment, there is an absolute need for collective efforts for the safety of girls in the society, their respectable living and empowerment. Only then can women stand shoulder to shoulder with men and help in building a better society. He said that today daughters are performing well in every field of life. Girls have proved their talent in various fields including sports, politics, army. He said that the state government has started many schemes to ensure active participation of women in social activities and sustainable development process and to empower them.
Women Helpline-181 has been started to provide security to women and to provide them immediate assistance in emergency situations. On this occasion, he provided concise information about various women centric schemes and their impacts.
On this occasion, placards were signed under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and oath was taken for the protection of daughters.
On this occasion, newborn girls, topper students of class 10th and 12th of various schools and participants who presented cultural programs were also honoured.
District Program Officer Kavita Gautam welcomed the chief guest and provided detailed information about the Sambal and Sakthi Yojana being run to empower women under Mission Shakti.
On this occasion, District Child Protection Committee Chairman Kamal Verma, Anganwadi supervisors Reena, Nirmala, Urmila, Lavya Bindra, Hiradevi, Renu Sharma, Rekha Sharma and Vibhasha and Anganwadi workers and children from various schools participated in various Anganwadi circles of Solan district.
