Shimla
Himachal Pradesh is widely known as Devbhoomi and a pride of Indian tourism, but the actions of a few greedy hotel operators are tarnishing its image. Under the guise of tourism, some hotels are allegedly being turned into hubs of immoral activities, where women are reportedly offered to guests. After a recent prostitution case surfaced in Solan district, a similar sensational incident has now come to light from Kullu district, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the tourism state.
Prostitution Racket Operating in a Private Hotel
Another shameful case of prostitution has been exposed in Kullu, one of Himachal Pradesh’s major tourist districts. Late at night, police conducted a raid at a private hotel in the Bhuntar area and uncovered immoral activities. During the operation, police confirmed that prostitution was being run in the hotel. One woman was arrested, while another young woman was safely rescued.
Police Raid Based on Secret Information
According to the police, they received confidential information that an illegal prostitution racket was operating in a hotel located near the Truck Union area of Bhuntar. Taking the information seriously, the Bhuntar police station team planned and carried out a raid. During the search, suspicious activities were found in the hotel rooms, leading to the exposure of the illegal sex trade.
24-Year-Old Woman Running the Racket
Police arrested a 24-year-old woman, Lata Devi, wife of Rampal, a resident of Barsar village, Barsar post office, Hamirpur district. She is accused of actively facilitating prostitution in the hotel and arranging women for customers.
Another 24-Year-Old Woman Rescued
Police also rescued another 24-year-old woman from the hotel, who is reportedly a resident of Nepal. She has been placed under police protection, and her statement is being recorded. Authorities stated that her safety is being given top priority and further legal procedures are underway.
Similar Case Recently Reported in Solan
Notably, a similar prostitution case had come to light in Solan district just two days earlier. The repeated incidents indicate that some hotel operators are promoting illegal activities under the cover of tourism. Such cases not only raise serious questions about law and order but also severely damage Himachal Pradesh’s tourism image.
Police have also started investigating the role of the hotel owner and are trying to identify other people involved in this network. Officials stated that strict action will continue against crimes like prostitution and no guilty person will be spared.
