Meeting held regarding construction of Kaithlighat-Shimla four lane and compensation amount
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap said that compensation amount should be provided immediately to the owner of the multi-storey building which collapsed near Bhattakufar a few days ago.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over an important meeting here today regarding the construction work of Kaithlighat-Shimla four-lane and the compensation amount to be given to the affected people.
It was told in the meeting that the process is underway to provide compensation to the owner of the multi-storey building that collapsed near Bhattakufar. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the National Highway Authority and the concerned company to complete the process as soon as possible and provide compensation to the victim. It is noteworthy that last month the Deputy Commissioner had directed the construction company working in the four-lane project under NHAI to pay compensation amount of Rs 5.61 crore to the victim’s family.
The progress of the construction work was reviewed in the meeting and special emphasis was laid on providing timely compensation to other affected families. Along with this, instructions were also given to acquire unsafe buildings in the area on priority basis.
He said that all works during road construction should be done with a positive attitude and in accordance with the prescribed rules. In particular, dumping of soil should be done only at designated sites so that the environmental balance is not affected. The Deputy Commissioner clarified that dumping on private land is illegal and there is also a provision for imposing a fine on it.
He said that the four-lane project is not only important for regional development but will also ease the traffic system, increase employment opportunities at the local level and also accelerate economic activities.
Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police Ratna Negi, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Shimla Bhuwan Sharma and officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
