Chandigarh/Mohali, February 15: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali on Saturday after his health deteriorated following a sudden rise in blood pressure. He is currently under medical supervision, and doctors are closely monitoring his condition.
According to reports, the Chief Minister experienced a spike in blood pressure during his visit to Sangrur. After initial medical examination at the spot, his condition did not show significant improvement. He was subsequently airlifted by helicopter to Mohali for further evaluation and treatment by a team of specialists.
Sources said that Mann felt uneasy while travelling by helicopter to Chandigarh, prompting authorities to admit him to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He reached the hospital around 3:00 pm, where medical tests were immediately initiated. The Chief Minister’s Office stated that he will remain hospitalised until all medical reports are reviewed.
Security has been tightened outside the hospital premises. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav and the state Chief Secretary are present at the hospital. However, neither the hospital administration nor the Aam Aadmi Party has issued an official medical bulletin so far.
Earlier in the day, Mann had visited Shri Rankeishwar Mahadev Shiv Temple in Dhuri, Sangrur, to offer prayers. He was accompanied by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and senior party leader Manish Sisodia, where they participated in religious rituals and a havan ceremony.
Following the health scare, the Chief Minister’s scheduled visit to Fazilka has been cancelled. His rally planned for February 16 in Moga has also been called off.
