The “Purple Fest” festival dedicated to the Divyangjan will be organized on 22nd and 23rd September 2025 at Police Ground Barga, Chamba Headquarters. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Awasthi, Joint Regional Center, Sundernagar, while giving information, said that the objective of this event is to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion in the society towards the talents, abilities, and rights of the Divyangjan.
This program is being organized by Integrated Regional Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Center, Sundarnagar (CRC). This event is being organized as per the instructions of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Cultural performances, disabled sports competitions (such as wheelchair basketball, cricket, and athletics), workshops, seminars, and discussions will be organized at Purple Fest. Apart from this, interactive stalls set up by organizations working in the field of disabled rights will also be a center of attraction.
This two-day festival can be attended by persons with disabilities, their caregivers, NGOs, educational institutions, and the public. This event is an important step towards an inclusive and sensitive society.
