Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has directed the officials of the public works department to accord top priority for the completion of those projects where 75 percent of the work has already been completed.
He was presiding over a review meeting of the construction works of hospitals, primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs) of the health and family welfare department, here today.
Vikramaditya Singh also directed to prepare and prioritize the list of different projects in various departments in each Assembly constituency of the state. He stressed the need to lay special emphasis on completing these projects in stipulated time period.
The Minister stated that the government would not award new construction works to those contractors who have failed to ensure the completion of two satisfactory works on the analogy of Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana. He also emphasized that construction work should only commence when there was adequate budget provision to prevent cost escalations. He said that this measure was intended to ensure financial efficiency and the smooth progression of projects.
Later, while interacting with the media, the Minister assured that the public works department was fully geared up for the upcoming monsoon season. As many as 206 JCBs, 110 bulldozers, 28 robo machines have been deployed at various locations across the state to ensure swift commencement of rescue and relief operations during emergencies. Moreover, arrangements had also been made for 17 bailey bridges and deploying a workforce of 13,000.
