A new change in the menu of restaurants and hotels in Himachal Pradesh. According to the new system, now the quantity of food will have to be written in the menu along with the price. If the hotel and restaurant owners do not do this, they will have to pay a heavy fine.
Whenever we go to a hotel or restaurant, we see that the quantity of food in the menu is shown with words like half or full plate. There is no standard definition for this. Due to this, the same dish is given to the customer in different quantities and prices in different hotels. This leads to confusion and dissatisfaction in the customer.
Now the quantity of the dish will also be written in the menu card along with the price of the dish.
Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology Department Bilaspur says that now if you order Dal Makhani or Matar Paneer etc. in any hotel or restaurant of Himachal, it will be clearly written in the menu that in what quantity that dish is being served.
With this rule, customers will get the right to know how much food they are getting in exchange for the price they are paying.
Legal Metrology Department has started inspection regarding this rule in Bilaspur district. In the first phase, the department made hotel and restaurant owners aware about the new rule so that changes can be made in the menu card.
In the first phase only information and warning is being given. In the second phase, surprise inspection will be done by the department. If the quantity of food is not mentioned in weight on the menu of any hotel or restaurant during this period, then challan action will be taken directly. Please note that the amount of this fine will be between Rs 2000 to Rs 25000.
