Rajeev Kumar-I, a distinguished officer of the Himachal Pradesh State Civil Service, has been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Himachal Pradesh Cadre.
This appointment comes as a result of his inclusion in the Select List of 2022, as per the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Notification No. 14015/08/2023-AIS(I)-B dated April 10, 2024.
The seniority and year of allotment for Rajeev Kumar-I and other newly appointed IAS officers were computed based on the weightage formula outlined in the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules, 1987, amended by Notification No. 14014/04/2011-AIS-1(A) dated April 18, 2012. According to these rules, Rajiv Kumar-I’s years of qualifying service were considered to determine his seniority.
Rajeev Kumar-I has held continuous service in the State Civil Service not below the rank of Deputy Collector, since October 6, 2003. As of December 31, 2022, he has completed 19 years of continuous service. Based on the seniority rules and weightage formula, he has been granted a total weightage of 5 years, entitling him to the year of allotment of 2017.
This seniority places Rajeev Kumar-I immediately below Shri Manoj Kumar Chauhan, who was allotted the year 2017 in the previous Select List.
The Government of Himachal Pradesh, through their letter No. Per(A1)-B(15)-11/75-IV dated April 25, 2024, facilitated this appointment by proposing Rajiv Kumar-I’s name, which was subsequently approved by the DoPT.

Rajeev Kumar-I’s promotion to the IAS cadre is a testament to his dedication and exemplary service in the State Civil Service. His new role as an IAS officer will allow him to contribute more significantly to the administration and development of Himachal Pradesh.
