Hamirpur, March 13: Senior Himachal Pradesh BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana has levelled serious allegations against a cabinet-rank advisor to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, accusing him of grabbing government land and harassing a widow. He has demanded an impartial and transparent investigation into the matter.
In a statement issued here, Rana claimed that a luxury bungalow being constructed on the Hamirpur bypass by the Chief Minister’s advisor has raised several questions, alleging that rules and regulations are being blatantly ignored.
According to Rana, a large-scale construction project has been underway on the bypass for some time, raising concerns about the alleged misuse of government land and administrative machinery. He alleged that procedures were bypassed and influence of power was used to facilitate the construction.
Rana further alleged that a widow living near the construction site is being continuously harassed. He claimed that the woman had a cattle shed where she kept her animals, which was allegedly demolished after she was given false assurances by the advisor. Since then, he said, the woman has been facing harassment in various forms.
He also alleged that certain departments have been instructed to find faults against the woman in order to pressure her.
Rana said it was extremely unfortunate that a helpless widow was being subjected to such treatment, adding that the situation had made her life difficult. He further alleged that the incident reflects an anti-women mindset.
The BJP leader demanded a fair and transparent inquiry into the entire matter. He said that if the investigation confirms allegations of encroachment on government land, misuse of official machinery, or harassment of a woman, strict action should be taken against those responsible.
