Hamirpur, February 28: Senior BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana on Friday alleged that the Chief Minister postponed his proposed visit to Sujanpur during the Holi festival as he was “frightened by questions from the public” over unfulfilled promises.
In a statement issued here, Rana termed the decision to defer the visit for the inauguration of the National Holi Fair as a “betrayal” of the people of Sujanpur. He claimed that the Chief Minister anticipated protests and public demands for accountability regarding announcements made earlier.
Rana said that in 2023, the Chief Minister had inaugurated the Holi fair after offering prayers at the Murli Manohar Temple and made several major announcements from the stage. However, he alleged that barring one or two, most promises remain unfulfilled.
Listing the assurances, Rana said these included opening a degree college in Toni Devi, upgrading Sujanpur Civil Hospital from 50 to 100 beds, opening a division of the Water Power and Electricity Department, constructing a bus stand, starting MA classes in English and Economics at the local degree college, and granting international status to the National Holi Fair. He alleged that no significant progress has been made on these fronts.
The BJP leader further claimed that development works in the Sujanpur Assembly constituency have stalled. He alleged that construction of the ITI building at Uhal in Bamsan has stopped, while works on the town hall, a rest house of the Water Power Department and the Block Development Officer’s office in Sujanpur are also incomplete.
Rana said the people of Sujanpur are now seeking accountability and tangible development rather than announcements, adding that avoiding public interaction was “unfortunate for democratic values.”
