SHIMLA, August 6, 2025 – The RCS Hill Queens, a women’s social club dedicated to community service, successfully organized a legal aid camp today at the Industrial Area Shoghi. The initiative, held in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, aimed to provide legal awareness and assistance to individuals who cannot afford legal representation, focusing on women, laborers, and other marginalized groups.
The camp was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries and legal experts, including Advocates Smt. Rita Thakur, and Advocate Smt. Meera Thakur, and Labour Inspector Shri Anil Chauhan from the Labour Department.
The event was a significant success, with a large number of people showing keen interest and participating actively in the sessions. The attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on a range of crucial legal topics. The discussions were led by the experts and covered key areas such as:
Women’s Rights: Highlighting the constitutional provisions and legal protections available to women.
Domestic Violence: Providing information on how to report cases of domestic violence and the legal recourse available to victims.
Labour Laws: Labour Inspector Shri Anil Chauhan detailed provisions on earned leaves, minimum wages, health and safety, ESI, and EPF, educating workers on their rights, entitlements, and the legal framework governing their employment.
Free Legal Aid: Informing the public about the provisions for free legal services provided by the government to those who cannot afford a lawyer.
AIDS Control: Raising awareness about the legal and social aspects of HIV/AIDS and the rights of affected individuals.
The RCS Hill Queens club members, including Surbhi Karol, Diksha Malhotra, Kiran Sood, Gurpreet Kaur Sondh, Harpreet K Sembi, and Puja Goyal, were actively involved in organizing the camp and facilitating the interactions. Their dedication ensured the smooth flow of the event and the effective dissemination of information.
Speaking at the event, Senior Advocate Rita Thakur emphasized the importance of equal rights for all citizens, irrespective of their social or economic background. She stated, “Our constitution guarantees equal rights to every citizen, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one is deprived of their rights due to lack of awareness or financial constraints.”
The RCS Hill Queens, in a statement, expressed their commitment to continuing such initiatives. “Our goal is to empower our community by providing them with the knowledge and resources they need to assert their rights.
