Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan organized a three days International Conference
International Conference on Recent Development on Interfaces of Chemistry, Biology and Material Sciences towards Health and Environment was organized by Centre of Sustainable Technologies for Rural Development, Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Solan, which was funded by DST-SERB and ANRF (Anusandhan National Research Foundation). The Centre of Sustainable Technologies for Rural Development of Department is working in the areas of biofuels (biogas and biobriquettes) from household and agricultural waste. The inaugural ceremony started with lamp lightening by Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sharma, Dean Prof. A.K. Gupta, HoD, Prof. Sudhir Kumar, Chief Guest Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi and Dr. Poonam Sharma. The first session started with the keynote lecture of Dr. Anil Prakash Joshi, a famous environmentalist (Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri & Jamnalal Bajaj Awardee) on the sustainable technologies, and various issues pertaining to the Himalayan ecosystem. Dr. Joshi advised us to work on Skill Matching of rural people with the developed technologies and to calculate the Gross Ecological Index of states. The eminent speakers across the globe and from various Indian Universities, industries including Prof. R.K. Sani (USA), Prof. Yen Wah Tong (Singapore), Prof. V.K. Thakur (UK), Prof. Felix Bast (CU Punjab), Prof. Venkata Krishnan (IIT Mandi), Prof. S.S. Kanwar (HPU), Prof. Kalpana Chauhan (CU Haryana) delivered their lectures to describe the role of chemistry biology and material sciences in environmental sustainability. The conference was concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Sudhir Kumar (HOD) and a vote of thanks by Dr. Poonam Sharma.
