The recruitment process will begin from October to fill more than 6,000 posts of teachers in government schools of Himachal Pradesh. In the state secretariat, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that the education department will start recruitment as soon as the new recruitment commission is constituted. 5,300 posts will be filled in the Elementary Education Department and 1,000 in the Higher Education Department. The state cabinet has already given approval to fill these posts.
The Education Minister has said that the department is also trying at its own level to fill the vacant posts soon. The recruitment process is going on on promotion and batch-wise basis. Regular principals have been promoted to colleges after five years. The posts of other categories of teachers are being filled by promotion.
District Education Officers are also doing recruitment on batch-wise basis. In the past, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has talked about setting up a new commission for recruitment in the state. For this, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer Deepak Sanan. The committee will submit its report in October. A new recruitment commission will be constituted as soon as this report is received. A new Recruitment Commission is to be formed in place of the Hamirpur Staff Selection Commission, which was disbanded in the paper leak case.
