The Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, while taking action in a major corruption case in Una, has arrested District Labor Officer Ranbir Singh red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. This action was taken on the basis of a complaint by a labor contractor of the Tahliwal Industrial Area.
The complainant, Rajat Kumar, who is a labor contractor in the Tahliwal Industrial Area, told the Vigilance that Ranbir Singh had demanded Rs 10,000 from him to renew his labor license. After the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap and sent the complainant to the labor officer as per the plan.
As soon as Ranbir Singh took the bribe amount in his hand, the vigilance team immediately took action and caught him red-handed.
It is worth noting that a case of corruption has already been registered against Ranbir Singh. On February 2, 2022, he was accused of taking a bribe of Rs 26,000, which he demanded in the name of issuing a registration certificate under the Himachal Pradesh Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1969. DSP Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Feroz Khan said that interrogation of the accused is going on. Also, his bank accounts and other whereabouts will also be investigated. Vigilance is trying to find out whether the accused has extorted money illegally from other persons as well.
