EEMIS offering real time updates on vacancies through SMS: Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil
Health, Labour and Employment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil while presiding over a review meeting of department of Labour and Employment here today said that the government was dedicated to providing adequate employment opportunities to the youth of the state and steps were being taken in this direction. The youth has appreciated the initiative of online registration on the Employment Exchange Management Information System (EEMIS) portal seeking job information which saves much of their time and visits to the office of the employment exchange. The online system offers various other benefits like providing confirmation regarding registration through SMS, generating online employment certificates and segregation of registered users as per their qualifications etc,
The Minister said that the EEMIS was introduced recently by the Labour and Employment Department and an increasing number of youth were registering themselves through online medium, saving both time and money.
The Government has also mandated employers to get themselves registered on the EEMIS portal, stated the Minister, adding that fresh licenses were being issued to the firms registering themselves on the portal. The employer would also regularly update vacancy related information on the portal for the benefit of job seekers. The portal offers real time data about the vacancies and information about the ‘Rozgaar Melas’ being conducted anywhere in the state and also informs the registered users about it through SMS. and anyone could apply through it, added the Minister.
Information about various trades, like Information Technology, Management, Hospitality and others in which employers are offering jobs is also available on the portal. As per qualification and interest, a registered user could apply for the job and give consent to be present at the time of the interview. Sh. Shandil added that the portal also gives real time figures regarding who has been selected and in which trade. The department was also working to introduce a new feature that would detail how many employment opportunities were offered in a month, he added.
Dr.(Col) Shandil informed that another Online Factory Registration Information System (OFRIS) portal has been started by the department to ease the process of registration for factories, granting and renewal of factory licenses and approval for building plans. Users get real time data regarding the approval and pendency of their files and their movement. The OFRIS has been started with the aim of achieving “ease of doing business in Himachal”. This has resulted in speeding up of granting factory licences and various other approvals.
Later, the Minister presided over a meeting pertaining to development works and projects along with their viability to be discussed in MLA’s priority meeting for the fiscal 2024-25 to be held on 29th January, 2024. He also reviewed the progress of ongoing projects that were being implemented under MLA priority for the current financial year. Officials from various departments, including IPH, PWD and Electricity, posted in Solan constituency were present at the meeting.
