A review meeting was convened today, i.e., on 9th September 2025, by the State food commission, Himachal Pradesh at the Conference Hall of the State Food Commission for the purpose of review and monitoring of entitlements under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 and Himachal Pradesh Food Security Rules, 2019.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. S.P. Katyal, Chairman, State Food Commission Hemis Negi andSh. Hitesh Azad Members and Yogesh Chauhan, Member Secretary of the State Food Commission, along with representatives and officials from the Departments of Women and Child Development, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and School Education,participated in the meeting.
The departmental representatives apprised the Commission regarding the present status of implementation of the schemes under the NFSA, 2013. The following Key schemes were reviewed
thoroughly:
1. Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS)
2. PM-POSHAN
3. Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS)
4. Pradhan Mantri Matru VandanaYojana (PMMVY)
Further deliberations focused on strengthening the Grievance Redressal Mechanism of the commission and enhancing public awareness about the functions of the Commission in enforcing entitlements under NFSA, 2013.
In view of the recent disaster in Himachal Pradesh, greater emphasis was placed on ensuring uninterrupted delivery of entitlements during emergencies such as heavy rainfall, cloudbursts, and landslides.
The State Food Commission urged all concerned departments to ensure that beneficiaries receive their ration on time during such emergencies. The line departments were advised to install hoardings/notice boards at Fair Price Shops, Schools, and Anganwadi Centres, with clear information about the State Food Commission, enabling beneficiaries to approach the Commission in case of non-receipt of entitlements as provided under the Act.
