Shimla:
A review meeting on the Rabi procurement season for 2025–26 was held under the chairmanship of the Managing Director of the State Food Commission Himachal Pradesh to assess the Government of India’s and State Government’s schemes and monitor procurement progress across the state.
During the meeting, it was observed that the managing director has been regularly reviewing procurement activities across all districts through online platforms and working towards resolving emerging issues, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
The Chairman expressed serious concern over the diversion of food grains and nutritional supplements by eligible beneficiaries. He termed such practices as unethical and harmful, stating that they undermine the objectives of food security and welfare schemes.
It was further noted that the State Food Commission Himachal Pradesh is committed to ensuring that benefits of essential schemes reach genuine beneficiaries and that strict action will be taken against those found diverting subsidised rations.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to safeguarding food security initiatives and emphasised that negligence or irregularities at any level will be dealt with strictly.
