Road safety park to be constructed in a school in Shimla

District Road Safety Committee meeting held

Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap directed the Public Works Department to prepare a list of black spots in all the sub-divisions of the district so that financial provision could be made for their improvement.

The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held here today. Various issues and challenges related to road safety were discussed in detail in the meeting. He directed the Police Department to provide detailed data of road accidents sub-division wise so that concrete steps can be taken on that basis.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to take effective steps to prevent road accidents. He laid special emphasis on making the traffic system more robust, identifying black spots on priority and improving them, making proper arrangements for road signs and warning boards and increasing awareness about road safety among the general public.

The Deputy Commissioner said that a road safety park will be built in a school in Shimla, where children from other schools can also come and become aware about road safety. Necessary guidelines have been given to the Education Department and Transport Department for this work. Road signs and warning boards will be installed at the entry gates and important places of the city.
Rallies and camps will be organized from time to time for road safety awareness in the district. A special awareness rally will be organized in Shimla city and such activities will continue in all the schools of the district. Apart from this, the Transport Department was directed to organize a road construction workshop based on the latest technology, in which concerned experts and departmental officers will be invited.

A mega blood donation camp will be organized at the Ridge ground

It was also decided in the meeting that a mega blood donation camp will be organized at the historic Ridge ground in Shimla so that the injured in road accidents can get blood as per their requirement. Through this occasion also the message of road safety will be conveyed to the people. It was also said that health check-up camps will be organized from time to time for the drivers.

Efforts will be made to connect all government and private ambulances with GPS
He said that efforts will be made to connect all the government and private ambulances of the district to GPS so that quick help can be ensured in case of an accident. Departmental officials were also instructed to inspect the ambulances from time to time so that compliance of rules can be ensured.
In the meeting, all the officers shared their suggestions related to road safety. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all the departments to work in coordination so that road accidents can be minimized and the traffic system can be made more smooth.
