Nearly 500 school and college students took part in Marathon popularly known as “RUN FOR WILD”,here today to create awareness about the conservation of wild animals.
The event was organized ahead of Wild life Week 2023 by Wildlife Division, Forest Department.
The Marathon was held from the Ridge to Summerhill Chowk. The event was flagged off by Rajiv Kumar Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief of Forest Force flagged off the Mini-Marathon which focuses on the theme.
In the women cadre, the marathon is 5km in which all the three prizes are bagged by RKMV college while boys Marathon is 8km and first prize was bagged by SD senior secondary school, second prize to GDC Sanjauli College and third is won by GSSS Lalpani.
On this ocassion,Anil Thakur Additional Principal Chief Conservator Wildlife Division, H. Kathuria, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Dev Raj Kaushal , Chief Conservator Shimla, Anish Sharma , Deputy Conservator of Forests Headquarters, N Ravi Shankar , Deputy Conservator Wildlife Division, Shimla Sheetal Sharma, Divisional Forest Officer, other officers and employees of Forest Department and Sports Department were also present.
