The prestigious B.L. Modi Inter-School Elocution Competition was held today at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, continuing the celebration
of eloquence, expression, and youthful confidence. The event drew in eager participants from across Shimla neighboring regions, with students competing in the Senior Division (Classes 9–10) and the Open Division (Classes 11–12).
As with Day 1, the proceedings began with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr. Yash Pal (IAS), who was greeted by the senior boys of the host school. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony followed, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. The event was
introduced and conducted by the senior boys of Bishop Cotton School, setting the tone with poise and clarity.

The competition witnessed fierce yet friendly rivalry, with students delivering speeches filled with passion, rhetoric, and a deep understanding of their subjects. The judges commended the participants on their articulation, stage presence, and persuasive skills.
To conclude the event, a cultural showcase added a celebratory tone to the afternoon. The Bishop Cotton boys enthralled the audience with a lively and energetic Bhangra performance, followed by a musical piece by Palchin from DAV Shimla. Joina Verma from Convent of Jesus and
Mary delivered a powerful monologue, adding theatrical depth to the day’s proceedings.
In his inspiring address, Chief Guest Mr. Yash Pal emphasized the power of the spoken word, urging students to hone their oratory skills and embrace the value of hard work and consistent effort in their academic and personal journeys. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by the Bursar of Bishop Cotton School, expressing gratitude to all participating schools, judges, teachers, and attendees for making the day a resounding success.
With Day 2 wrapped up, the B.L. Modi Elocution Competition continues to stand as a beacon of excellence in public speaking, celebrating young voices and nurturing future leaders.
