57 medicines made in Himachal Pradesh are also included, whose samples did not meet the standards. Surprisingly, samples from many famous companies were found to be faulty in the test. Many of these medicines are made in Himachal’s pharma hub, Baddi. The medicines whose samples failed include Almox-500 capsules to prevent pneumonia, sodium chloride injection to meet the deficiency of sodium and water in the body, and rabeprazole injection to deal with ulcers.
Apart from these, the sample of liquid paracetamol given to children in case of fever was also found to be faulty. 37 samples taken by the state laboratory and 20 samples taken by CDSSO (Central Drug Standard Control Organization) were found to be faulty. Four samples from the Martin and Brown Company of Baddi and eight samples from the Keptap Company failed. Samples of 60 medicines of the country taken by the state laboratory failed, which include 20 medicines from Himachal.
Samples of 136 medicines manufactured in India taken by CDSO have failed, which include 37 medicines from Himachal. State Drug Controller Manish Kapoor said that the companies whose medicines have failed will be issued notices and their licenses will be cancelled. The stock will be recalled from the market. The department itself will also test the samples.
