The district court has heard the petition seeking a stay on the orders of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to demolish the Sanjauli Mosque. Local residents living around the Sanjauli Mosque have applied to become parties in this case. The next hearing on the case will be held on November 14.
All Himachal Muslim Welfare Society spokesperson Nazakat Ali Hashmi termed the MC commissioner’s October 5 order to demolish the three upper floors of the mosque as defective. Himachal Muslim Organization chief Nazakat Ali has said in the petition that the MC commissioner has given this decision on the basis of the affidavit given by the Sanjauli Masjid Committee. He claimed that the Sanjauli Masjid Committee is not registered. In such a situation, the affidavit given by its president Mohammad Latif is not correct.
