Shimla
A case of theft and escape by a Nepali couple has come to light in the Dhali police station area of Shimla. The servants, who had been employed nine months earlier, targeted the house where they were employed. They took advantage of the opportunity and stole goods worth over 3 lakh rupees, including cash and jewelry. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and launched a search for the absconding couple.
The complaint was filed based on the statement of Vijay Kumar, son of the late Daya Ram, resident of village Noha, Post Office W, Tehsil Junga, District Shimla (age 42). The complainant stated that the Nepali couple, Prakash and his wife Nirmala, had been working in his house for the past nine months. On the night of September 23rd, he and his family went to Gauda for a Maa Jagran and returned home around 1 am. Everything was normal at that time, and the family was relaxing at home.
The next morning, around 7:30 a.m., when he knocked on the Nepali couple’s room door, it was locked from inside. He tried calling Prakash’s mobile phone, but there was no response. This aroused his suspicion. A subsequent check of the cupboard in the house revealed that the lock had been broken and approximately ₹90,000 in cash, a 17-gram gold chain, and his wife’s mangalsutra (the chain of which was not made of gold) had been stolen. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at approximately ₹315,000. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, and a search has been intensified for the absconding Nepali couple. A police officer stated on Thursday that a case has been registered at the Dhali police station under sections 305, 3(5) of the IPC.
