Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts at Shoolini University organised the second lecture under the ‘SAMVAAD’lecture series. The title of the lecture was ‘The Study of Public Policy: Knowledge and Experiences’.
The organisers of the webinar, Dr Siddharth Dadhwal and Dr Ekta Singh, introduced the speaker of the day, Dr Grace Ngullie who is an independent researcher. She has conducted in-depth research on policy interventions in the areas of livelihood (Self-Help Groups) and food security (Public Distribution System and Cash Transfers).
Dr. Grace emphasised on the basics of public policy and elaborated on its relations with different governance models. Addressing students’ queries, Dr. Grace discussed the popular idea of public policy, examined the history of the study of government and administration-the action part of the government while conceptualising and inter-linking public policy within its realm and recognising the emerging interdisciplinary nature of the study. She shared some of her experiences of doing public policy research on cash transfers and in-kind transfers in India. Prof Tej Nath Dhar also shared his relevant inputs in the session.
