A coaching learning session was organised by Shoolini University’s V-Empower programme on “Lifelong Learning on an Action Learning Mode”. The speaker for the session was Dr Winston Jacob, MBE, an ICF Accredited Mentor Coach.
Dr Winston started his lecture with the chronicle of the mighty Titanic and what went wrong with something so magnanimous made by humans putting in years of hard work.
Understanding action learning through all the years intrigued Coach Winston to do his part in research and come up with his formula and thesis. He states, “Learning L equals P plus Q raised to an infinity factor, such that you keep on addressing and questioning the question an infinite number of times.” This makes the question a lifelong learning tool.”
After talking about the three steps of action learning, Coach Winston brought the session to a close by stressing the importance of giving while learning, sharing, and passing on what we’ve learned as we continue to improve ourselves.
Professor Reginald William Revans analysed the situation and devised a formula for action learning, that is, L (learning) equals P (program knowledge) plus Q (insightful, innovative questions and queries). He pioneered the intervention of action learning and helped to spread it worldwide.
